Zohran Mamdani’s Luxurious Dubai Wedding with Views of Burj Khalifa
Zohran Mamdani has made history as the first Muslim mayor of New York City. At just 34 years old, he will also be the city’s youngest mayor in over a century when he assumes office on January 1. While Mamdani ran a high-profile campaign, his wife—Syrian-American artist Rama Duwaji—prefered to keep a low profile.
Originating from India, Mamdani, 34, met 28-year-old Rama Duwaji on the dating app Hinge in 2021. The couple got engaged in October 2024, after a few years of dating.
In December 2024, Mamdani and Duwaji celebrated their engagement and nikah in Dubai—the city where Duwaji spent much of her childhood and where her family remains based.
The couple’s wedding took place on the stunning rooftop of Vida Creek Harbour, offering breathtaking views of the iconic Burj Khalifa. Instagram posts from florist LMF Dubai reveal a lavish celebration, with the rooftop transformed into a lush garden. Soft ivory roses, lisianthus, and fresh ruscus created a white floral paradise against Dubai’s pink sunset.
For the nikah, Rama Duwaji wore a silver-toned white gown, while Zohran Mamdani was dressed in a navy blue kurta. LMF Dubai shared, “We brought garden romance to the city with lush blooms, delicately trailing greenery, and a statement arch that embraced the couple in nature’s quiet luxury.”
The Dubai celebration was just one part of their wedding journey. In February 2025, Mamdani and Duwaji had a simple courthouse wedding at the city clerk’s office in Lower Manhattan. Later, in July, they hosted a three-day wedding celebration at Mamdani’s family estate in Uganda.
Mamdani is the son of Indian filmmaker Mira Nair and Mahmood Mamdani, a Ugandan academic of Indian descent.
